Between 25th-31st March, 1916, 7th King’s Royal Rifle Corps of 41 Brigade, 14th Division were holding the front line at Arras The Battalion diary records that the weather was fine and warm and that this tour in the trenches was a quiet one. It also adds that the 10 casualties suffered by the battalion during this period, which included Willis Lucas on  29th March, were all as a result of sniper fire.
